Arrested to Arrested Development: 114 - Shock and Aww

"Michael, the little Korean is here, and I don't know what to do with him. At least I think it's a him. You've got to strip them down to next to nothing before you could even tell."
"Yeah. Mom, I just spoke to Social Services and, although they don't like to do this, if you can prove that it's a bad environment for a child - and I would suggest saying what you just said to me, don't change a word - they will take him back."

What counts as an "ethical decision"? Dating your son's Ethics teacher? Accidentally adopting a Korean boy? Taking said adopted Korean cousin to the school dance to make Steve Holt jealous? Making a collage of Sadaam Hussein? Or...
Trying to set up your brother with an ugly girl out of spite for splitting up your marriage,
sleeping with said ugly girl after your brother seems interested in her,
then sleeping with who you think is the Ethics teacher your brother is sleeping with but really a different woman entirely..?

This episode reminded us that the Bluths are a very unethical family.

There are some decent throwaway subplots this episode, such as Jane Lynch secretly investigating George Michael Sr. by pretending to be attracted to him, leading to him tweaking her nipples through the fence (you read it correctly), leading to the team of spies watching aborting their mission by pretending to wash a dog, all in hilarious fashion, but throwaway plots nonetheless.
This would later lead to disruption in the Bluth family marriage, which later inconsequently leads to the first hint of the arrival of "Anyong" which would later conclude the fact that not one member of the Bluth family knows even remotely any language other than English.

The highlight of the episode of course is the reveal upon reveal at the school dance that lying doesn't solve anything, whether it's to keep your son out of what you think is harm's way or whether it's getting back at your brother.

The misfortunate events unfold brilliantly, as always:
  • Michael sleeps with George Michael's Ethics teacher...
  • Michael tells George Michael that Uncle Gob slept with his Ethics teacher
  • Later, Michael tells George Michael the truth, that he slept with his Ethics teacher
  • Gob, touched that he assumes his brother is standing up for him, does the same in return...
  • ...By telling George Michael he was the one who slept with the Civics teacher...
  • ...Or was it the Ethics teacher...?

Mrs. Whitehead, the Civics teacher

In what concluded as a good old fashioned, unethical series of plot-twists... As expected.
