Arrested to Arrested Development: 112 - Marta Complex

"I've made a huge mistake."

Old flames begin to come to light as the Michael-Marta complex has finally reached its publicity. Recurring story lines begin to set their course and as per norm, character's situations are shook up.

Carl Weathers as himself, as Tobias' "acting mentor," essentially scamming the poor bastard, continues to be one of the highlights. It's funny because, where other shows such as 30 Rock have used actors playing themselves but in the show's context turn out to be crazy or happen to be despicable individuals, Weathers plays a crook and yet you can't be mad at him. With his charm in attempting to be Tobias' "life coach" and teach him make stew, he just makes you smile.

The real focus of the episode is the continual Gob-Michael clash and the hilarity ensues when we realize no member of the Bluth family is even mildly educated in the Spanish-English language (even though Gob apparently took six years of it).
The fact that Gob and Michael spend the entirety of the episode in search of "hermano," potentially Marta's new love interest, settles the fact that maybe they shouldn't be dating someone who speaks the language if they can't translate that she has feelings for the brother; yes, even Marta has made a huge mistake.
The running joke of Gob and Michael asking for "hermano" and the Spanish-speaking folk point them in the direction of their brothers never got old.

But the pivotal moment for the two brothers was the miscommunication when Gob called Michael and tried to have Michael say he was with "nobody" if he was with Marta and Gob just couldn't pick up the intake.

Tobias continues to be one of the highlights for me because even though he is used less than the immediate family members, his potential is never wasted. Between the eternal debate as to whether or not he's gay, the fact that he's a never-nude, and the fact that when he does land acting gigs, they are almost always ridiculous.
The small highlight for him this episode was when he auditioned for a role in a film as "Frightened Inmate #2"where apparently all the actors trying out for the role are small, bald and sport the mean mustache.

While I'm starting to care less for George Michael's bizarre infatuation with his cousin, I found it funny that Maeby's parents attempting to separate them from sharing a room brought Tobias in filling the role as a potential role model for George Michael.

Let us not forget that Buster finally made the big move and decided to put his foot down and move out of Lucille's house, even if the move won't be permanent.

And we all know this is going to go somewhere.
